Sakifo Musik Festival was created in Reunion Island in 2004. Throughout the years it became a game-changer in the island’s music live industry and the biggest festival of Reunion island.
With headliners like Angelique Kidjo, Ben Harper, Oumou Sangare, Pete Doherty, Texas, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Tricky, more than 40.000 people gather every year over three days to discover more than 50 artists.
Sakifo is one of the longest-running and biggest entertainment events in Réunion
Whether you’re familiar with the Sakifo Musik Festival or not, a glance at this year’s and previous line-ups is bound to reveal one of the event’s key values: inclusion.
The inclusion of local artists, from the Indian Ocean and from the rest of the world, in a programme that aims to bring to Reunion audiences artists with diverse aesthetics, representative of cultures, counter-cultures and current trends.
The festival also builds bridges through joint initiatives with AFEMAR, the traditional RISOFÉ on Sundays, which is free and open to all, would be nothing without the support of fishermen’s wives.
Last but not least, every year Sakifo works with school groups to bring music to schoolchildren and vice versa.
