KARL HUNGUS

Pillar of the local Reunion Island music scene, DJ Karl Hungus has been the resident DJ of the concert venue Le Kabardock and the Sakifo Musik Festival for many years, structures with which he still regularly collaborates. Outside of Reunion, he performs with members of the artist collective created by GUTS, of which he is a part: “The Pura Vida DJs.” Creator of numerous concepts and events in Reunion, he is notably the founder of the Funky Terrasse nights at Les Récréateurs, the What’s Up Dock at Le Kabardock, the Sol Clap at Planch’ Alizé, and the L.A. Sundayz at Choka Bleu. Karl Hungus specializes in the “Rare Groove” domain by uncovering Soul, Funk, Hip-Hop, Disco, Reggae, and Rhythm & Blues gems. A former resident of the renowned black music club Marula Café in Barcelona, he delivers an ultra-festive black power vibe, ensuring each DJ set ignites the dancefloor. He has notably opened for De La Soul, Fred Wesley, Wax Tailor, Chinese Man, Féfé, and Seun Kuti. He has shared the decks with GUTS, Ollie Teeba (The Herbaliser), DJ Format, Mr. Thing, Dj Suspect (45 live), Jazzman Gérald, Florian Keller, Nick Record Kicks, Alex Soulist (What The Funk Paris), Voodoofunk, Mad Mats, and more.
