MANNYOK

The band Mannyok originates from Rodrigues Island, a small autonomous dependency of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It is made up of five musicians: the two Casimir brothers (twins Christian & Christophe), Sydney Alfred, Christel Emilien, and Vallen Pierre-Louis.
Mannyok blends traditional Rodrigues music with world sounds through original compositions and reinterpretations of local standards. Their unique instrumentation combines guitars, accordion, traditional and improvised percussion instruments, such as balié koko and zing zing. Mannyok offers a vibrant and authentic musical experience, inspired by the manioc, a staple food of the island and the source of their name.
